YVONNE ELLIOTT
Textile Artist
Yvonne has experimented with a wide range of fabric and fibre media and techniques; her recent work starts with painting or dyeing to create a base, to which she adds layers of print, found and handmade fabrics and embroidery to add depth and texture. She works intuitively in a meditative process which produces new associations and ideas, so that each piece, however small, acquires additional layers of meaning. She creates wallhangings, framed work and small three-dimensional display pieces, but also enjoys making unique accessories - scarves, bags, brooches and cuffs.
For the past five years Yvonne has been showing work at Bucks Open Studios/Art Weeks and regional art fairs. A Quilters Guild and Embroiderers Guild member, she is a regular participant in local and national challenges and subsequent exhibitions.
Yvonne is always happy when someone wants to know more about the techniques and media used in particular pieces, so it is a natural development for her to give talks and lead workshops, building on her rich experience of managing Adult Learning in Milton Keynes. She assists fellow textile artist Helen denDulk with facilitation of the weekly Westbury Fabric and Fibre skillshare days and is thrilled to have joined Westbury Arts Centre as a studio holder and to have access to their beautiful historic building and grounds to run her courses.
