Asya Dudko, a resident artist at Westbury Arts Centre has just had one of her sculptures accepted at the prestigious Royal Society of British Artists annual exhibition in London this spring.
The sculpture which Asya’s submitted is called ‘Birthday Boy'. Asya said of it: ‘This sculpture presents the idea of friendship and the feeling of being loved that everyone needs, however this does not always happen.’
She says the following is an the epigraph to the artwork:‘To forget a friend is sad. Not everyone has had a friend'.Antoine De Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince.
Asya made the sculpture from air drying clay 'Paperclay' in studio at WAC last year. She said:
The sculpture will be on display at the Mall Galleries London 29 Feb to 9 March 2024, 10.00 a.m – 5.00 p.m. daily. The works on display are selected by Selection Committee of artist members of the Society and is rotated annually.
The RBA has attracted many major artists as members over the years, including Sickert, Lowry, and Whistler.
